This Committee was created by Ordinance in 1999. Its charge shall be to identify and prioritize potential acquisitions of land or interests in land for open space or recreational or agricultural purposes, to make recommendations to the Board of Selectmen regarding acquisition of such land and other proper uses of the Land Acquisition Fund and to perform such other tasks relating to the use and administration of the Fund as the Board of Selectmen may direct.
The full Open Space Land Acquistion and Preservation Committee meets monthly, usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. See the Town Government Calendar on the Home page for upcoming meetings. Special Subcommittee meetings are scheduled as needed. Agendas and minutes are available at the Town Hall and on this website. Meetings are open to the public.

The Board of Selectmen appoints four citizens at large and one member each of the following: Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, Planning and Zoning Commission, Conservation Commission, Inland Wetlands Commission, Recreation Commission and Historic District Commission. The persons appointed serve for no set term at the pleasure of the Board of Selectmen, who also fill vacancies. The Open Space Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee elects its chairperson and secretary. They are required to meet periodically, but not less frequently than quarterly.
